Job summary

The City of Reno seeks a Maintenance Worker III in the Sewers Division to lead maintenance crews, operate heavy trucks and equipment, and oversee sewer and storm drain repairs.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent, five years of related experience, and CDL with endorsements plus a flagger certification; bilingual candidates are encouraged. This is an internal promotional opportunity for current classified employees.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Five years of progressively responsible maintenance/construction experience in streets, sewers, storm drains or related facilities.
• Two years at a level comparable to Maintenance Worker II or four years at Maintenance Worker I.
• Possession of CDL with appropriate endorsements.
• Possession of flagger certification.
• Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise lower-level maintenance staff across city facilities and structures.
• Train assigned employees in maintenance methods and procedures.
• Operate heavy trucks and specialized public works equipment.
• Oversee repair of sewer and storm drain infrastructure and related works.
• Ensure safe work practices and compliance with standards.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Five years of maintenance/construction experience

Two years at Maintenance Worker II or four years at Maintenance Worker I

CDL with endorsements

Flagger certification
