Job summary

Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD) is seeking a Senior Maintenance Technician for 1st shift in Columbus, NE. The role provides informal leadership to the maintenance team, supports troubleshooting and safe operation of equipment, and coordinates activities with the core team to minimize downtime.

Responsibilities include on-call leadership, defect tag management, daily TMS participation, and coaching technicians to build capability. Strong adherence to LOTO, 5S, GMP, GDP is required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; associates degree or technical training preferred in mechanical/electrical/industrial maintenance.
• 2 years mechanical maintenance experience required; 5+ years with peer leadership preferred.
• Strong problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as informal area leader, guiding trouble-shooting and repairs.
• Provide on-call leadership and escalation management for safe operations.
• Lead defect tag management with timely resolution and proper documentation.
• Attend daily TMS meetings and communicate updates.
• Coordinate maintenance activities with core team to minimize downtime.
• Coach and train maintenance technicians to improve skills and readiness.
• Ensure coverage when team members are absent to maintain operations.
• Participate in cross-functional teams for scheduling, safety, and process improvements.
• Uphold BD rules: LOTO, 5S, GMP, GDP, and safety requirements.
• Support continuous improvement to enhance equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
