Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services is seeking a Maintenance Specialist IV to perform advanced building maintenance at Vernon State Hospital, Vernon, TX. The role involves restoration, renovation, inspections, and coordination of trades to ensure safe, compliant facilities.

You will lead maintenance projects, manage work orders and materials, and may participate in disaster response or COOP efforts as required. Some positions may require extended hours or overtime.

Qualifications

• Minimum three (3) years’ experience in construction, maintenance, or equipment/vehicle repair work such as electrical, plumbing, masonry, mechanical equipment, locksmithing, painting, motor vehicle maintenance, grounds keeping, equipment maintenance, HVAC, carpentry, welding.

Responsibilities

• Performs highly advanced (senior level) restoration, renovation, building maintenance and construction work in a designated skilled trade.
• Maintains and repairs building systems including fire alarm and sprinkler systems, electrical, carpentry and related components; inspections and documentation of work orders.
• Acts as lead on projects, coordinating schedules and staff, and ensuring safe, compliant work.
• Maintains records for work orders, projects and material requisitions; assists in disaster response or COOP as needed.
