Job summary

Health & Human Services Commission in Austin State Hospital is seeking a Maintenance Specialist IV to lead senior maintenance projects, perform complex building repairs, and supervise others while maintaining safety and compliance with codes.

The role emphasizes restoration, inspection, and coordination of work orders, with potential overtime and a must-have Texas driver license. Telework is not available for this position.

Qualifications

• Minimum three (3) years’ experience in construction, maintenance, or equipment/vehicle repair work such as electrical, plumbing, masonry, mechanical equipment, locksmithing, painting, motor vehicle maintenance, grounds keeping, equipment maintenance, HVAC, carpentry, welding, electronic cabling or any combination of those trades.

Responsibilities

• Performs highly advanced (senior level) restoration, renovation, building maintenance and construction work in a designated skilled trade.
• Maintains records and processes paperwork related to work orders, projects, and material requisitions.
• May operate machinery such as backhoes, forklifts, etc. as necessary.
• Acts as a lead worker on construction, maintenance, or repair projects and oversees repairs or renovations.
