Qualifications

Job Summary

Responsible for overall supervision and coordination of workers' activities related to the setup, installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment, tools, and machinery to ensure non-stop operation of the plant/location assigned.

Job Responsibilities

1. Leads workers in electrical, electronic, mechanical hydraulic and pneumatic maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment
2. Tests malfunctioning machinery, determines repairs, and assigns mechanics for repair
3. Leads workers engaged in dismantling, assembling, and installing equipment, parts, and machinery
4. Interprets company policies and safety regulations to ensure compliance and a safe work environment
5. Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers and assigns duties
6. Establishes and adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules
7. Recommends and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality
8. Implements a schedule of routine and preventative maintenance procedures and monitors personnel
9. Orders parts needed for special projects, routine maintenance, spare parts, tools, and equipment
10. Keeps management informed of activities
11. Coordinates maintenance services provided by outside vendors, including warranties and service contracts
12. Suggests changes in working conditions and equipment use to increase shop, department, or work crew efficiency
13. Performs other duties as assigned

• Associate’s degree or equivalent in training, education, or experience, plus at least 2 years of experience as a head mechanic, or equivalent
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and other malfunctions of machinery and equipment
• Ability to read and interpret instructions, manuals, and follow step-by-step procedures
• Ability to train others
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Knowledge of electrical, electronic, mechanical, instrumentation, hydraulic, and pneumatic operations, and maintenance and repair of machinery
• Skilled in the use of hand and power tools
• Strong knowledge of safety and industrial hygiene
• Ability to lift tools, machinery parts, and objects weighing up to 80 pounds
• Endure intermittent bending, crouching, pushing, pulling, and reaching
• Stand for extended periods
• Work under extreme conditions such as hot or cold temperatures, noise, dust, and dirt
