Job description

The Lead Mechanic is responsible for leading the team professionally and assigning work based on expertise. The role involves ensuring the maintenance of machines on the production floor and adhering to safety regulations such as lockout/tagout, fall protection, confined space, electricity, and motorized electromechanical systems. The lead will perform preventative maintenance on PLCs, pneumatics, and hydraulic systems. This position reports to the Maintenance Manager.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Strong problem-solving skills capable of addressing complex mechanical issues effectively.
• Passion for industrial maintenance and working with machinery and equipment.
• Enjoys mentoring junior mechanics and collaborating with team members.

Key Responsibilities

1. Diagnose and repair machinery and equipment.
2. Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize equipment failures.
3. Mentor and train junior mechanics to improve their skills and knowledge.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of practical experience in mechanical and maintenance roles within an industrial setting, with thorough knowledge of mechanical systems, diagnostic tools, and repair techniques.
• Proven leadership and team management experience, including training and mentoring staff.
• Experience with parts/inventory management, work order documentation, and scheduling.
