• Direct the day-to-day functions of the nursing assistants in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines governing the long-term care facility.
• Ensure all nursing personnel comply with facility policies and procedures.
• Review and revise department policies, procedures, and job descriptions as needed.
• Plan shifts' services, programs, and activities with assigned nursing staff and support personnel.
• Keep the Nursing Service Procedures Manual current and reflective of daily nursing procedures.
• Ensure compliance with Nursing Service Procedures Manual across staff.
• Prepare and submit written/oral reports on shift activities to supervision.
• Coordinate nursing services with other resident services to maintain total care.
• Oversee adherence to individual nursing service job descriptions.
• Contribute to the facility's quality assurance program and participate in surveys.
• Assist in developing discharge plans and updating them as required.
• Explain policies to residents, visitors, and government agencies as needed.
• Admit, transfer, and discharge residents as required.
• Complete accident/incident reports as necessary.
