Job summary

SouthWestern Electric Power Co. is seeking a qualified Lineman A to install, maintain and operate transmission and distribution facilities near Marshall, MI. The role involves leading crews, performing both overhead and underground work, and ensuring safety protocols are followed.

Residency within 30 miles of the Marshall Service Center is required. A valid Class A CDL is mandatory, and extensive knowledge of switching procedures and fault finding is essential for this position.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum two years satisfactory work experience as a Lineman A or the equivalent.
• Valid Class A CDL is required.
• Shall have performed the duties of Lineman A or equivalent.
• Must follow Company safety rules and be proficient in resuscitation and first aid.
• Knowledge of circuit connections, voltage identification, phasing and switching devices.
• Must possess valid state driver’s license and meet vehicle operation requirements.
• Must understand Company transmission and distribution standards.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain transmission and distribution facilities and all line equipment.
• Direct crew on a routine basis and exercise leadership and good judgment.
• Assemble, install, maintain, remove and inspect conductors and equipment on overhead/underground facilities.
• Operate switches, reclosers and other devices; perform live-line work as needed.
• Work with live line equipment on energized circuits for repairs or modifications.
• Obtain and release transmission and distribution clearances per procedures.
• Locate and correct trouble and restore service.
• Place safety signs, flag traffic, and set barriers as required.
