Job summary

City of Chicago seeks a Foreman of Linemen for the Chicago Department of Transportation, Division of Electrical Operations. The role supervises crews installing, repairing, and testing aerial and underground electrical systems, ensuring safety and quality on every job.

Starting salary is $73.73 per hour. Workweek is Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Location: 2451 South Ashland. Eligibility includes union bargaining unit constraints and written testing. Career service status applies.

Qualifications

Successful completion of a US Department of Labor registered Lineman apprenticeship training program and journeyman status.
Successful completion of a US Department of Labor registered apprenticeship training program as an Electrician/Wireman with journeyman status.
Industry or company sponsored apprenticeship as a Lineman with four years journey-level experience.
Eight years of journey-level Lineman work experience.

Responsibilities

Prepare work plans detailing job requirements, manpower, materials, and man hours.
Make daily work assignments to use manpower and resources efficiently.
Ensure worksites are safe at day’s end.
Inspect progress for adherence to plans and safety standards.
Direct installation of wires, fiber optics, and conduit to power sources.
Train staff in safety procedures and operational tasks.
