Job summary

City of Chicago Foreman of Electrical Mechanics is responsible for supervising journey-level electrical mechanics across municipal facilities, airports, water plants, and substations. You will study blueprints, plan work, estimate labor/materials, and coordinate resources to ensure timely, compliant installations and repairs.

The role requires completion of a US DOL-registered Electrical Mechanic apprenticeship and journeyman status with 2 years of journey-level experience, or alternate

Qualifications

• Successful completion of a US Department of Labor registered Electrical Mechanic apprenticeship training program and journeyman status, PLUS two (2) years of journey-level electrical mechanic work experience.
• If above is not fulfilled, candidates may have: industry or company sponsored apprenticeship training as Electrical Mechanic PLUS four (4) years journey-level experience.
• Nine (9) years of journey-level electrical mechanic work experience.

Responsibilities

• Studies blueprints, specifications and work orders; inspects sites to plan installation and repair work.
• Prepares cost estimates of labor, materials, equipment and manpower.
• Plans, assigns and schedules electrical jobs based on priorities and resources.
• Orders materials, equipment, and supplies; coordinates delivery to sites.
• Supervises work in progress to ensure efficiency and quality; adheres to safety procedures.
• Inspects completed work for specifications, quality standards and codes.
• Trains staff in work and safety procedures; evaluates performance.
