Uptown Blanco Restaurant seeks a dedicated line cook to ensure exceptional dining experiences. Responsibilities include cooking, food preparation, and maintaining cleanliness according to health regulations. Candidates should have a high school diploma, experience in food service is preferred, and a willingness to obtain a Food Handler Certificate is required.
Uptown Blanco Restaurant is looking for someone with a passion for food and strong time management abilities who can provide clients with an exceptional dining experience. Our restaurant is busy, and we need a competent and experienced line cook who can ensure that our meals are made precisely to guest orders while still following our standard recipes consistently. To work a variety of stations on any given shift, our line cook must be adept at poaching, braising, roasting, grilling, sautéing, and frying. You need to be a team player who can effectively communicate with other kitchen staff to keep things running efficiently. Responsibilities: • Interact with visitors, vendors, and associates while maintaining a professional and positive attitude • Cook food orders at stations by following established recipes and presentation standards for grilling, broiling, and sautéing menu items • Recognize and adhere to quality requirements for meats, vegetables, fruits, and dairy products, as well as correct storage and waste management • Clean and sanitize all workstations, including counters, utensils, cooking equipment, and the refrigerator, in accordance with health and safety regulations • Establish a system of food stations and stock them with all of the necessary ingredients for the shift • Portion and preparation of food items, including fish, beef, chicken, pork, etc., as prescribed by company specifications and recipes • Preparation of sauces and/or garnishes as required by company specifications related to the specific menu item • Performs related work as assigned and as circumstances require • Be able to interact with vendors and customers when needed • Keep all workstations, counters, equipment, and other kitchen areas clean and sanitary according to health and safety guidelines • Guarantee that food quality is adhered to, properly stored food and items, while meeting waste control requirements • Follow established recipes and prepare foods to presentation standards Qualifications: • Candidates need a strong understanding of compliance with kitchen safety and food storage requirements • We prefer some experience working in the food service industry • Candidates must be hardworking, detail-oriented, and have a strong work ethic • Display excellent communication and interpersonal skills with customers and coworkers • Educational requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent GED certificate Required Skills/Abilities: • Possesses a strong work ethic • Ability to produce an excellent culinary and restaurant experience for patrons • Excellent time management, scheduling, managerial, and organizational skills • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with a variety of personalities and under pressure Education and Experience: • Experience in food preparation work is preferred • Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent is preferred • Must meet the minimum age requirement as prescribed by law • Possess or willing to obtain a valid Food Handler Certificate Physical Requirements: • Prolonged periods of standing and preparing, and cooking food • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times • Must be able to work in a kitchen environment that may involve exposure to extreme heat or cold Compensation: $16 - $20 hourly
