Job summary

City of Boston is seeking a Head Lifeguard to supervise pool staff, patrons, and the entire pool facility in a safe, clean, and compliant environment. You will enforce rules, conduct lifeguard duties, and oversee daily operations with an emphasis on safety and customer service.

You will also manage aquatic programs, teach swim lessons, coach youth swim, and coordinate group activities while maintaining records and ensuring health code compliance. A strong leadership presence is required.

Qualifications

• Current Lifeguard Training certification (ARC) including CPR/AED.
• Minimum 3 years lifeguard experience preferred.
• American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) or Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise pool staff, patrons, and facility to comply with health regulations.
• Conduct lifeguard training courses.
• Perform surveillance and rescues as needed to prevent emergencies.
• Develop and oversee aquatic programs (swim lessons, youth team, clinics).
• Maintain pool records (chemical treatments, backwashing) and sanitary conditions.
• Ensure compliance with health standards and safety regulations.
