Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston is seeking a Senior Aquatics Assistant to support planning, implementation, and evaluation of high-quality aquatics programs for youth aged 6-18. You will assist with swim instruction, team activities, lifeguard support, and pool operations to maintain a safe environment.

Under supervision of the Aquatics Program Manager, you will teach proper stroke techniques, supervise lifeguards, and help deliver diverse aquatics activities while collaborating with staff across

Qualifications

• High School degree or GED required.
• Experience delivering aquatics programs, swim instruction, or lifeguard services for youth.
• Knowledge of swimming techniques, pool operations, water safety, and lifeguard practices.
• Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR, First Aid, and Water Safety Instructor certifications.
• CPO (Certified Pool Operator) certification or willingness to obtain certification upon hire.
• Knowledge of youth development principles and behavior-management practices.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with youth and families from diverse backgrounds.
• Flexibility to work clubhouse hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Aquatics Program Manager in maintaining a safe aquatics environment and following safety regulations.
• Observe swimmers, enforce pool and facility rules, and respond to emergencies with appropriate rescue, first aid, and CPR techniques.
• Assist with pool operations including water testing, monitoring, maintenance, and cleaning.
• Secure and maintain materials, equipment, and resources for the aquatics program.
