Job description

BASIC FUNCTION:
The Lead Lifeguard is responsible for overseeing the safety and well-being of all guests using the pool area, while ensuring adherence to established rules and regulations. In addition to lifeguard duties, this position includes leading the lifeguard team by managing the schedule, coordinating shift coverage, and assisting with training and development. The ideal candidate must be a strong swimmer, able to stay attentive and focused, and capable of setting the tone for safety and guest engagement at all times.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Monitor pool area to ensure guest safety and enforce pool rules and hotel policies.
• Respond quickly and effectively to all emergency situations.
• Complete and maintain the lifeguard schedule, ensuring adequate coverages for all shifts.
• Train and mentor new lifeguards, reinforcing safety procedures and guest service standards.
• Ensure the pool area is clean, safe, and properly equipped at all times.
• Engage positively with guests, providing a welcoming and safe environment.
• Uphold hotel regulations regarding food, drink, and behavior in the pool area.
• Serve as the point of contact for the lifeguard team in the absence of management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current CPR/AED and Lifeguard Certification.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills.
• Ability to remain calm and think clearly in high-pressure situations.
• Strong communication and guest service skills.
• Must be able to stay focused, alert, and attentive at all times.
• Prior lifeguard experience required; supervisory experience preferred.
