Responsible for assisting the pool manager in the supervision and direction of all activities relating to the operations of the Holmes Aquatic Center.
Provide exceptional customer service to all external and internal customers.
Respond to and resolve customer issues and requests.
Responsible for the supervision, aquatic safety, and incident prevention for all patrons.
Responsible for the daily opening of the facility, including vacuuming, facility set-up, lifeguarding morning programming, and other pre-opening maintenance items.
Responsible for providing lifeguard coverage at scheduled special events.
Assist in training staff in proper safety, rule enforcement and lifeguarding skills.
Performs rescues and administers first aid and medical care as needed to guests, employees and supervisors.
Responsible for completing daily operation logs.
Responsible for daily cleaning and maintenance of the facility.
Assist in aquatic programming.
Follow established City of University Park policies and procedures.
Attend all staff meetings and trainings.
Maintain regular and punctual on-site attendance.
If hired by the Parks & Recreation Department as a seasonal employee, I understand that I must adhere to and will be required to participate in the following:
Attend mandatory drug testing.
Attend mandatory orientation.
Attend all paid pre-season training sessions.
Attend all mandatory paid in-service trainings as scheduled.
Be at work on time for every scheduled shift.
Report to work and remain free from being under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.
Wear staff uniform only while on duty.
Work weekdays, weekends, holidays, opening and closing shifts, and Holmes Aquatic Center special events.
Be willing to substitute for others.
Be willing to work together for the better of the team.
Maintain a clean work environment in and around the facility.
Knowledge & Skills
Must be at least 17 years of age.
Minimum 1 year of lifeguard experience.
American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.
American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.
Preference for prior experience supervising staff.
Working Conditions
Work is performed outdoors and involves direct contact with the general public. The work schedule of a Head Lifeguard will include opening and closing shifts during weekdays and weekends. Holiday work is required. Work may involve being around harmful chemicals.
Job Type: Seasonal
In accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act, this position is not eligible for overtime for hours worked over 40 in a designated work week.
Schedule
The City of University Park is currently accepting applications for Aquatic Positions. All positions require the ability to work flexible schedules up to 40 hours per week, and the availability to work Sunday through Saturday, 6:30 a.m. through 9:00 p.m., including holidays and special events. Must pass a criminal background check and drug test.
