Job summary

Queens Public Library is seeking an Assistant Community Library Manager at a principal library location. The role offers leadership across staff, programs, and public service, with significant responsibility for daily operations and performance management.

The position requires an ALA-accredited Master's degree, NYS Public Librarian’s Certificate, and at least one year of managerial experience, including supervising full-time librarians.

Qualifications

• ALA accredited Master's degree required.
• New York State Public Librarian's Certificate required.
• Minimum of one year managerial experience including supervision of full-time staff.
• At least one year of standard or above performance at the senior librarian level.

Responsibilities

• Support the Community Library Manager to maintain Principal Library designation and status.
• Lead staff supervision, including performance feedback and staff development, and provide exemplary public service.
• Directly supervise the Customer Service Supervisor and Librarians.
• In the absence of the Community Library Manager, oversee all library operations and staff direction.
• In the absence of the Customer Service Supervisor, supervise clerical operations.
• Demonstrate leadership competencies, initiative, teamwork, and customer service excellence.
• Prepare reports and statistics.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
