Job summary

Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Insurance in San Diego, CA, seeks a Legal Billing Supervisor to oversee the review and entry of legal invoices for the Claims department. You will lead a team of Legal Bill Analysts to ensure accurate billing, correct firm assignments, and compliance with business rules.

The role requires at least five years of related experience, supervisory exposure, and knowledge of legal billing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Paralegal Certification preferred.
• Minimum of five (5) years of related experience.
• Prior supervisory experience preferred.
• Knowledge of legal billing and/or workers compensation insurance claims management.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and able to master proprietary and vended software applications.
• Expertise in CouncilLink by LexisNexis is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensures team provides high internal partner satisfaction and cost management while adhering to policies and regulations.
• Manages legal billing software, including setting up new firms/users and coordinating IT/vendor support.
• Manages team workflow, assigns tasks, and sets clear objectives with timely results.
• Seeks opportunities for continuous improvement to rectify billing discrepancies and speed up processing.
• Provides performance feedback with HR and leadership support when necessary.
• Develops and maintains reporting tools on team performance and costs; performs random data validation.
• Performs special assignments and projects as needed.
