Job summary

Control Point Associates in Boonton, NJ is seeking an experienced Crew Chief to lead survey crews in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. You will supervise field operations, perform stakeouts, boundary analyses, and as-built surveys using Trimble/Leica/Spectre total stations, GPS RTK, and 3D laser scanners.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of survey leadership, a High School Diploma, and willingness to obtain additional certifications.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of surveying experience in a managerial or leadership role.
• High School Diploma (required) with strong math, computer, and technical skills.
• Expertise in operating advanced surveying equipment and software.
• Proven ability to lead a team and work collaboratively with colleagues, clients, and contractors.
• Willingness to obtain additional certifications (e.g., OSHA, Hazwoper, TWIC).
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to perform field calculations and ensure accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and Lead Survey Crews: Manage field operations, including performing all phases of land surveying such as construction stakeouts, topographical surveys, boundary analysis, and as-built surveys.
• Advanced Survey Equipment: Utilize cutting-edge tools such as Trimble/Leica/Spectre robotic total stations, GPS RTK units, 3D laser scanners, and data collectors to gather accurate field data.
• Field Calculations and Data Management: Conduct detailed field calculations, complete sketches, and ensure data is downloaded and processed with accuracy.
• Safety and Equipment Maintenance: Safely handle all surveying equipment and vehicles, ensuring that the setup is done according to safety protocols and that equipment is properly maintained.
• Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor instrument operators and other field crew members, ensuring they are motivated, productive, and adhere to project timelines.
• Client Communication: Serve as the main point of contact on-site for clients, maintaining positive relationships and providing regular updates on project status.
• Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as required, ensuring that fieldwork meets the company’s high standards of quality and accuracy.
