Job summary

EverOps is seeking a Lead Kubernetes Platform Engineer to drive a multi‑cluster EKS modernization program from a remote US‑based TechPod. You will serve as Pod Leader, setting technical direction and leading a price‑performance focused migration across ARM64 and x86 environments.

Responsibilities include estate discovery, upgrade automation, capacity planning, and coordination with AWS specialists to deliver a funded program. Strong leadership, deep Kubernetes & Karpenter expertise are essential.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in DevOps, SRE, Platform or Infrastructure Engineering.
• 4+ years operating production Kubernetes at scale.
• Deep production experience with Amazon EKS at large scale.
• Advanced proficiency with Terraform, Argo CD, Flux.
• Strong scripting in Python, Go, or Bash.
• Ability to enter an unfamiliar environment and produce a defensible current‑state picture and roadmap.

Responsibilities

• Estate Discovery: baseline a multi‑cluster production EKS estate.
• Blast Radius & Architecture: design a multi‑cluster target architecture with workload placement models.
• Upgrade Automation: implement automated upgrade approaches for clusters and APIs.
• Compute & Capacity Strategy: lead sizing across instance families and node sizes.
• Graviton Migration: plan phased ARM64 migration across workloads and services.
• Karpenter Engineering: configure NodePools and scheduling policies for price-performance.
• Cost Engineering: model compute costs and savings opportunities like Savings Plans and Spot.
• Platform Posture: assess and improve ingress, service mesh, CNI, GitOps posture.
• Operability & Toil Reduction: quantify toil and build automation to reduce it.
• AI‑Native Operations: scope AI-assisted DevOps for faster, safer ops.
• Technical Leadership: lead TechPod as a player‑coach and partner with customer leadership.
• Documentation & Readouts: produce baseline, designs, roadmaps, and executive readouts.
