Job summary

BENCHMARK is seeking a Lead Steward for the kitchen team at Windrose on Hudson. This role requires interaction with team members to ensure high standards and excellent guest service.

The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma or GED, have the ability to lift heavy items, and maintain a positive work environment. Compensation ranges from $20.00 to $22.00 per hour.

Qualifications

Position Overview

Lead Steward – Kitchen (shift 3:00pm–11:00pm, weekends/holidays as needed). This role is part of the “Heart of the House,” providing key services for culinary and food service teams to ensure excellent guest service.

Responsibilities

• Interact with team members and create a positive, upbeat work environment.
• Ensure team members maintain set standards.
• Maintain a daily sanitation log for the dish machine and manual pot wash sink.
• Leave work areas ready and communicate any items that are not ready.
• Be energy conscious: turn off lights when not in use, keep faucets turned off, and report leaks to a supervisor.
• Prevent accidents by paying close attention to high‑traffic areas to avoid slips, trips, and falls.
• Use proper dish and glass racks to prevent chips, cracks, or breakage.
• Use time wisely: proactively clean and sanitize equipment during slow periods.
• Learn different kitchen tasks and develop new skills.
• Assist in other areas as business levels dictate.
• Perform other duties assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (preferred); up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to present information in one‑on‑one and small group settings.
• Ability to stand for long periods.
• Ability to lift/move up to 10lb regularly, up to 25lb frequently, and up to 50lb occasionally.

Compensation

$20.00–$22.00 per hour.
