Job summary

Tigg's Canteen Services is seeking a dependable Temporary Full-Time Lead Cook for the Porter County Jail in Valparaiso, Indiana. The role leads daily kitchen operations, directs inmates and staff, and ensures adherence to recipes and food safety in a structured correctional setting.

Starting pay is $21.00 per hour with medical, dental, vision, 401K, and PTO benefits. Flexible weekend/holiday scheduling and required facility clearance are part of the position.

Qualifications

• Leadership and communication skills required.
• Ability to read and follow company recipes.
• Experience leading kitchen staff and inmates in a structured setting.

Responsibilities

• Lead, direct, and assist inmates in the kitchen.
• Instruct kitchen staff and inmates during meal prep.
• Assist with food prep, baking, cooking, and cleanup.
• Follow established recipes and procedures.
• Maintain a safe, organized kitchen in a correctional environment.
• Lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
