Job summary

JPMorgan Chase is seeking a Lead Software Engineer - Java/Microservices/AWS/AI to join the Digital Utilities team in a fast-paced, agile environment. You will help build trusted market-leading technology products with a focus on security, stability, and scalability.

The role demands hands-on design and development across the SDLC, leadership in AI-assisted engineering practices, and collaboration with external vendors and internal teams to drive architecture decisions and platform improvements.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
• Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
• Advanced in one or more programming language(s) including Java, Springboot, Microservices, API, Kafka, Cassandra, AWS and AI.
• Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools with the ability to validate AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows and secure handling of inputs/outputs.

Responsibilities

• Executes creative software solutions and drives design, development, and troubleshooting.
• Develops secure, high-quality production code and reviews code written by others.
• Drives adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed.
• Applies SDLC tools to improve value realized by automation and modern practices.
• Identifies opportunities to automate remediation for better operational stability.
• Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors and internal teams to probe architecture and feasibility.
