GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Highmark seeks a highly motivated Lead IT Infrastructure Engineer/Lead Mainframe Platform Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of our critical mainframe systems. This role requires deep expertise in z/OS, DB2, IMS, CICS, MQ, and related technologies. Responsibilities include leading complex projects, troubleshooting critical issues, and mentoring junior engineers. The successful candidate will drive platform improvements, ensure high availability and performance, and promote best practices within a geographically dispersed data center environment. Experience with automation (IBM Systems Automation), diagnostic tools, and disaster recovery planning is essential. Strong collaboration skills and a commitment to knowledge sharing are also required.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Lead teams in defining complex requirements, deliverables, and timeframes in collaboration with the customer. Escalate issues and recommend solutions.
2. Perform root cause analysis to identify and resolve complex IT Infrastructure problems.
3. Develop and deliver advanced technical training; mentor less experienced team members.
4. Complete complex project tasks to ensure on-time, within-budget delivery of IT Infrastructure projects.
5. Ensure compliance with standards, procedures, guidelines, and processes.
6. Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Licenses/Certifications, and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• 5-7 years of experience in Information Technology.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:

This role does not supervise or manage other employees.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Travel is not required.

This job requires the ability to work as a team member, report regularly and punctually, and may involve irregular hours, holidays, and weekends.
