Job summary

Penn Medicine is seeking a Lead Pharmacy Technician - Inpatient for our inpatient pharmacy team. The role supports day-to-day activities, training, and ensuring accurate medication preparation and delivery in a fast-paced hospital setting.

The incumbent collaborates with pharmacists, supervisors, and other staff to maintain high-quality patient care, oversee technician scheduling, and ensure compliance with policies and procedures across shifts.

Qualifications

• Certified Pharmacy Technician - PTCB
• Lic-Pharmacy Technician Reg
• H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
• 2+ years to 4 years experience with inpatient hospital pharmacy
• Minimum of 5 years of experience with inpatient hospital pharmacy

Responsibilities

• Coordinates day-to-day activities in the assigned area and supports management initiatives.
• Maintains knowledge of technician service lines and supports productivity data.
• Provides a professional environment to engage staff and ensure high-quality patient care.
• Trains newly hired technicians and interns; ensures compliance and competency.
• Manages scheduling of technicians and interns and coverage daily.
• Covers absences and adjusts service lines as needed.
• Collaborates with supervisor and Pharmacy Operations Manager to meet objectives.
• Leads technician and intern meetings and performs QA of documentation.
• Acts as primary shift contact for real-time workflow guidance and issue escalation.

Education

H.S. Diploma/GED

2+ years inpatient hospital pharmacy

Minimum of 5 years of experience with inpatient hospital pharmacy
