Job summary

Penn Medicine’s Pennsylvania Hospital is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join the Inpatient Pharmacy. This is a full-time, day shift opportunity with a schedule of 2-10:30pm, 40 hours per week, and one weekend per month.

Under direct supervision of registered pharmacists, technicians assist with preparation and filling of medication orders, perform critical calculations, and handle sterile and non-sterile compounding. Omnicell and clinical systems are used daily.

Qualifications

• PTCB certification required upon hire or within 6 months.
• Registered Technician with PA State Board of Pharmacy.
• H.S. Diploma or GED; higher degrees preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interprets, fills, delivers, restocks, stores, and returns inpatient medication orders under pharmacist supervision.
• Performs dosage calculations and prepares sterile and non-sterile preparations.
• Utilizes technology including Omnicell and labeling/distribution systems; maintains inventory.
• Complies with policies on controlled substances and documents discrepancies.
• Participates in training of new staff and supports unit inspections.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervising pharmacist.
