Job summary

Penn Medicine is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for the Inpatient Pharmacy at Pennsylvania Hospital. This full-time, evening shift position runs 2:00 PM–10:30 PM, 40 hours per week with one weekend per month.

The technician will support licensed pharmacists in preparing medications, performing calculations, and distributing meds to patients. Requires PA registration and PTCB certification. HS diploma required; AA/AS or BA preferred.

Qualifications

• Under supervision of registered pharmacists, assists in preparation and filling of orders and medication carts.
• Performs critical pharmacy calculations and compounding using appropriate technique.
• Utilizes computer systems and tech equipment to support medication distribution and inventory.

Responsibilities

• Interprets, fills, delivers, restocks, stores, returns and disposes of inpatient medication orders under supervision.
• Performs IV admixture prep, repackaging, checking and replenishing kits with accurate dosage calculations.
• Maintains proficiency with Omnicell and clinical information systems.
• Monitors inventory levels and communicates replenishment needs.
• Ensures compliance with laws governing controlled substances and completes required documentation.
• Participates in training of new staff and students; assists in inspections and audits.
