Job summary

Commerce is seeking a Lead Infrastructure Engineer to design, build, automate, and operate infrastructure across on-prem data centers and cloud environments. The role requires hands-on operations background and a track record of automating large-scale systems.

You will set technical direction, mentor engineers, and own scalable systems for global operations in a hybrid work setting in the US.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in infra or systems engineering with production ownership.
• Experience managing physical hardware in hosting facilities.
• Deep Linux administration (Red Hat/Debian) at scale.
• Hands-on networking with Cisco, DNS, load balancing.
• Experience with enterprise storage and backups.
• Proven automation of infra with Ansible, Puppet, or similar.
• Proficiency in Python for infra tooling and automation.
• Production experience with GCP (Compute Engine, IAM).
• Ability to lead infra projects and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design and operate large-scale, multi-data-center infra incl. on-prem, GCP, AWS.
• Lead automation of deployment and config management; migrate to modern IaC.
• Design and maintain traffic management, load balancing, DNS at scale.
• Build and operate monitoring/observability across on-prem and cloud.
• Develop tooling for distributed, auditable infrastructure administration.
• Write and maintain infra process and policy docs.
