Job summary

The Goddard School of Owings Mills, MD is seeking a Lead Infant Teacher to guide early childhood development using the Wonder of Learning curriculum. You will implement age-appropriate plans, support infant milestones, and lead daily routines.

You will mentor Assistant and Resource Teachers, communicate with families, ensure safety and licensing compliance, document progress, and collaborate with leadership in a warm, state-of-the-art setting.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education preferred.
  • CDA (Infant/Toddler preferred).
  • 1–2 years of experience working with infants in a licensed childcare setting preferred.
  • Completion of state-required pre-service training.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with children, families, and team members.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs in connection with caring for children.

Responsibilities

  • Curriculum & Instruction: Implement age-appropriate lesson plans and routines using the Wonder of Learning curriculum, focusing on infant development, sensory exploration, and responsive caregiving.
  • Classroom Leadership & Management: Create a safe, nurturing, inclusive infant classroom; lead daily routines; mentor Assistant and Resource Teachers.
  • Family Communication: Build strong, trusting relationships with families and communicate daily about feeding, sleep, milestones, and development.
  • Health, Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with state licensing, health and safety standards, and Goddard policies; maintain classroom documentation.
  • Assessment & Documentation: Observe, assess, and document infant development to guide instruction and share progress with families.
  • Professional Growth & Collaboration: Participate in ongoing professional development and collaborate with leadership and colleagues.
  • Positive Guidance: Model and implement positive, responsive caregiving and guidance strategies for social-emotional development.
