Job summary

Sterling St James LLC is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead hands-on technical efforts for industrial electrical, automation, and process-controlled systems in a manufacturing setting.

You will design, troubleshoot and optimize plant electrical and control systems, manage capital projects from concept through startup, and ensure compliance with NEC and NFPA standards while supporting Operations and Maintenance teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required with 5–10+ years in industry.
• Strong knowledge of PLCs, DCS, SCADA, instrumentation and power distribution.
• Experience leading capital projects and knowledge of NEC/NFPA standards.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, troubleshoot and optimize PLC/SCADA control systems.
• Lead automation upgrades and industrial network communications.
• Perform root‑cause analysis and support Operations and Maintenance.
• Develop electrical specifications, P&IDs and single‑line diagrams.
• Coordinate vendor bids, changes and contractor activities.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E/70B and grounding standards.
