Job summary

The Federation of American Scientists seeks an Associate Director, Individual Giving & Donor Relations to build and lead our inaugural major gifts program. You will design strategies, cultivate high-net-worth donors, and partner with the CEO and Board to advance philanthropic support.

You will build a sustainable pipeline, manage donor portfolios, and work cross-functionally to secure unrestricted funding for FAS's strategic priorities.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in major gift fundraising with credibility with sophisticated donors.
• Proven ability to plan and execute strategies focusing on high-net-worth individuals.
• Deep experience managing a major gifts portfolio through donor lifecycle.
• Proven ability to steward relationships with donors, boards and diverse constituents.
• Understanding of fundraising ethics, donor confidentiality and stewardship.
• Database fluency with Salesforce, WealthX, RelSci or equivalent.
• Excellent written communication for proposals, correspondence and briefings.
• Ability to identify and engage new prospective donors when pipeline is not established.

Responsibilities

• Qualify prospects, manage a portfolio, and develop cultivation and solicitation strategies.
• Build multi-year giving plans and engage executive leadership and Board to advance donor relationships.
• Serve as the sole operator of individual giving and build the program end-to-end.
