Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking an experienced Indirect Underwriter to review loan documents, assess risk, and ensure compliance with banking regulations. You will decide on underwriting outcomes for auto and consumer loan applications while maintaining high standards of accuracy and efficiency.

Essential duties include mentoring teammates, training new staff, and participating in the Credit Committee for high-risk cases.

Qualifications

• Strong working knowledge of consumer credit and underwriting principles.
• Strong working knowledge with federal and state regulations affecting consumer loans.
• Strong working-level knowledge of overall consumer lending processes, including underwriting and loan processing.
• Strong working-level knowledge of valid documentation related to the processing of consumer applications (tax returns, financial statements, verification of income, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Performs all duties of a level 1 & 2 Indirect Underwriter.
• Act as subject matter experts for others in the department
• Assist in training new staff members on products and procedures
• Supports and responds to questions from Indirect Underwriter 1 and 2.
• Serves as a member of the Credit Committee in decisioning loan applications that involve high complexity and loan amounts according to policy
• Escalates loan file with recommendation that exceed individual lending authority and/or of high complexity and associated risks to a Indirect Underwriter 4 or Supervisor.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
