Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) - Vernon State Hospital is seeking an Incident Management Coordinator to oversee incident management, protect patient rights, and analyze data to drive performance improvements.

You will coordinate with Quality Management, Rights Protection, Risk Management, and leadership to ensure timely protective actions and compliance with state and external requirements. This role involves policy updates, investigations, and reporting responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of investigative principles, techniques, and procedures; laws governing agency activities.
• Skill in interviewing victims, witnesses and potential individuals causing harm, injury and/or damage.
• Ability to gather, assemble, correlate, and analyze facts; devise solutions; develop and evaluate policies and procedures; prepare reports; communicate effectively.
• Able to produce written documents and data analysis reports using Microsoft Office programs.
• Ability to interpret/develop pertinent policies/procedures and technical reports.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and external stakeholders.
• Ability to organize, coordinate and delegate routine and complex tasks and supervise others.
• Ability to develop monitoring systems, collect and analyze information, and make cost effective recommendations.
• Ability to make effective decisions during unusual incidents/crises.
• Demonstrates commitment to facility mission and workplace values.

Responsibilities

• Attends work regularly and may be assigned specific or rotating shifts with overtime as needed.
• Provides technical assistance entering data into the incident data management system and tracks incidents to resolution.
• Documents preliminary review of reportable incidents and contributes to plans of correction for reviews and investigations.
• Participates in development and revisions of incident management policies for compliance with JC, CMS, and laws.
• Reviews and analyzes incident data to identify patterns and trends; generates root cause analyses.
• Performs other duties including disaster response, COOP activation, or alternate shift/location as needed.
