The American Red Cross is seeking a Lead Technologist in IRL to perform daily lead functions, conduct donor and patient testing, and interpret results for donor-recipient compatibility. You will support hospitals and transfusion services, with focus on accurate testing and regulatory compliance.

The role requires leadership guidance to volunteers, participation in quality control, and collaboration with medical facilities to ensure safe blood products and patient care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biological Science or Chemistry required; MT(ASCP) certification preferred.
• Licensure if required by state.
• Minimum 3 years related experience or equivalent.
• MLT (ASCP) certification with 5 years of blood banking experience can be substituted.
• Good written and verbal communication; able to work on a team.

Responsabilités

• Consult with staff at other medical facilities to resolve serologic problems and provide units to transfusion recipients.
• Manage receipt, coordination, shipment and transport of patient and donor blood samples; maintain donor products inventory.
• Perform and interpret basic and complex donor/patient testing with quality control; identify and resolve irregularities.
• May lead records maintenance and perform equipment/software maintenance and validation.
• May train staff, conduct competency reviews, and provide external education.
