Job summary

Corning is seeking a Sr Development Engineer to lead tooling and automation efforts for hyperscale data center quartz machining. You will drive design, testing, and implementation of drilling, grinding, and fixturing to improve manufacturing output for optical fiber.

You will collaborate with controls and process engineering to deliver robust equipment platforms, while applying 3-D CAD, GD&T, and rigorous validation throughout development.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years manufacturing experience in equipment design, tooling or automation.
• Co-op or internship experience welcomed.

Responsibilities

• Lead tooling development for Hyperscale Data Center quartz machining—specify, design, validate tooling, fixturing, and custom workholding.
• Design and industrialize manufacturing equipment platforms and automation to enable improved optical fiber processes.
• Integrate mechanical hardware and automation, including motion, actuation, sensors, and safety systems.
• Collaborate with controls/process engineering and manufacturing receivers in later development stages.
