Job summary

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) invites applications for Transportation Engineer 3 (Engineering) in the Hydraulics and Drainage section at its Newington headquarters. This lead engineering position covers all aspects of hydraulic engineering and water resource matters related to transportation facilities and projects.

You will provide specialized policy advice, perform hydrologic modelling and design reviews of storm drainage systems, bridges, and detention facilities;

Qualifications

• Specializes in hydraulic engineering and water resources for transportation facilities.
• Strong ability to perform hydrologic/hydraulic modeling and design reviews.
• Knowledge of stormwater, drainage systems, and scour considerations.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized engineering, technical support and policy advice on storm water and water resource management for transportation facilities.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, design/review of drainage systems, bridges over waterways, detention facilities and related hydro structures.
• Perform bridge scour analysis, design countermeasures, and assist with monitoring.
• Prepare flood management certifications and other permit documentation.
• Provide design support and technical advice to other units on hydraulic and drainage activities.
• Review development proposals before Office of State Traffic administration and district permit offices.
