Job summary

NC State University is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician (FMT) – Lead Technician in Raleigh, NC. The role combines hands-on HVAC/R work with leadership, mentoring a maintenance team, and supporting project planning within the Building Maintenance & Operations group.

The ideal candidate will have advanced HVAC/R knowledge, experience with building automation, and a commitment to safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency; HVAC experience preferred.
• Valid NC driver’s license; ability to obtain NC license within 60 days.
• Experience with building systems, safety standards, and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate work assignments and ensure efficient workflow.
• Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and install HVAC/R equipment.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to staff.
• Lead daily operations and assist with project planning.
• Maintain records of inspections and maintenance activities.
