Job summary

RTX is seeking a Facilities Lead Technician (HVAC Specialist) to provide hands-on leadership for maintenance operations and act as the primary SME for commercial HVAC systems at the Dulles VA facility.

The role requires a licensed Journeyman HVAC technician with extensive experience, capable of diagnosing complex systems and directing facilities personnel to ensure safe, efficient operation and compliance with codes.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8+ years of facilities HVAC technician and leadership experience.
• AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training).
• Universal EPA Certification.
• Hands-on experience in commercial HVAC troubleshooting, repair, and operational maintenance.
• General knowledge of Pneumatic controls, thermostats and VAV Boxes.
• Reading complex schematics, electrical ladder diagrams, and building blueprints.
• Proficiency in diagnostic tools, digital manifolds, and BAS interface platforms.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on leadership for maintenance operations and serve as primary SME for HVAC systems.
• Oversee external contractors for MEP work with safety and quality control.
• Assist CMMS for routine repairs and preventative maintenance tasks.
• Lead diagnostics and troubleshooting for chillers, boilers, RTUs, AHUs, VRF systems, and cooling towers.
• Monitor and optimize Building Automation Systems for energy efficiency.
• Lead preventative maintenance schedules to extend equipment life and reduce downtime.
• Ensure EPA refrigerant recovery, charging, and documentation.
• Work from drawings/manuals to install/replace components.
