Job summary

Insight Global is seeking an experienced Commercial HVAC Technician I/II (mid-level to lead) in Richmond, VA. This role focuses on installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial and industrial HVAC and refrigeration systems across RTUs, package units, split systems, and boilers.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of commercial/industrial HVAC experience.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Strong understanding of HVAC system operations and refrigeration cycles.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
• Lead and support installation, maintenance, and repair of large-scale industrial air conditioning systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance and efficiency.
• Troubleshoot, calibrate, and adjust thermostats, burners, transformers, relays, controls, switches, heaters, and related electrical components.
• Diagnose and resolve complex electrical and mechanical HVAC system issues.
• Utilize HVAC trade tools, including multimeters, refrigerant gauges, charging charts, and hand tools.
• Identify maintenance risks and recommend corrective actions.
• Clean, adjust, repair, and perform warranty-related service work on HVAC systems.
• Respond to emergency repair requests promptly and efficiently.
• Provide technical direction and on-the-job training when needed.
• Adhere to all applicable safety standards, work instructions, and customer requirements.
• Maintain accurate service documentation, including equipment conditions, parts used, and work performed.
• Assist with customer inquiries and service-related questions.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Compensation: 23-48/hr

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 5 years of commercial/industrial HVAC experience performing preventative maintenance and repairs on RTUs, package units, split systems, and refrigeration equipment.
• Valid, unexpired driver's license.
• Clean driving record
• Strong understanding of refrigeration cycles, HVAC system operations, and sequences of operation.

Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years of commercial/industrial HVAC experience.
• Experience with chillers and boilers.
• Refrigeration/HVAC trade school, vocational certification, or equivalent training.
