Job summary

UG2 is seeking a Maintenance Technician I – HVAC in Massachusetts to support state‑of‑the‑art campus operations. You will insure reliable HVAC performance, analyze building systems, and assist in design discussions as part of a growing, collaborative team.

Requirements include 3–5 years of related experience, strong BMS knowledge, and the ability to act as Lead Engineer when needed. OSHA 10 and Universal CFC are preferred; on‑call rotations apply.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with 3–5 years related experience.
• Mechanical and electrical aptitude with large tonnage HVAC equipment.
• Ability to service compressors, cooling towers, pumps and VAV boxes.
• Strong knowledge of building management systems and controls.
• Wastewater treatment license or ability to obtain within six months.
• OSHA 10 certification and familiarity with safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Share knowledge and best practices with maintenance team members.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and trend facilities systems via the BMS.
• Troubleshoot HVAC equipment and controls and perform repairs.
• Carry out pump rebuilds and replacements for system reliability.
• Maintain contractor and vendor relationships.
• Inspect and repair boilers, heating, cooling, and auxiliary systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance per manuals and specs.
• Provide initial response to maintenance requests with focus on HVAC.
• Operate and inspect Energy Management and Fire Safety systems.
• Conduct tours of mechanical spaces and roof areas.
• Respond to service calls including carpentry and painting duties safely.
• Communicate status updates to owner/supervisor; stay current on safety/code changes.
• Support projects with materials lists and technical input.
• Remain available for after-hours emergencies as primary site contact.
