Desert Mountain Club in Scottsdale, AZ seeks an experienced Lead HVAC Technician to oversee maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of residential, commercial, and refrigeration systems across its luxury facilities.

The ideal candidate demonstrates leadership, strong technical expertise, and a commitment to safe, reliable, and energy-efficient systems within a high-end club environment. This role includes after-hours support and hands-on work.

Qualifications

• EPA 608 certification required.
• NATE or HVAC Excellence Master Specialist preferred.
• Equivalent state licenses or master licenses highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate aging climate control and refrigeration machinery to decide repairs vs replacement, draft SOWs, and manage contractors on-site.
• Direct installation, service, and preventative maintenance of refrigeration systems and walk-ins.
• Use Limble CMMS to track assets and logs; monitor multi-site environments with Niagara EMS for energy optimization.
• Lead and mentor technicians, handle after-hours calls, and perform hands-on work in Arizona conditions.

Job description

Desert Mountain Club is seeking an experienced, hands-on Lead HVAC Technician to oversee the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of residential, commercial, and refrigeration systems throughout Desert Mountain Club’s luxury facilities.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining safe, reliable, and efficient systems in a high-end resort and/or club environment.

Responsibilities include using Limble CMMS and Niagara EMS to manage assets, work orders, and energy efficiency; evaluating aging equipment and determining replacement needs; developing Scopes of Work with outside vendors; and overseeing contractors through successful project completion.

This role requires a proactive leader who can support and mentor the maintenance team, respond to critical after-hours issues, and perform hands-on work in demanding Arizona conditions while maintaining the high standards expected by Desert Mountain Club members and guests.

Must possess a valid driver’s license and have no traffic violations within the last three years.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Replacement: Evaluate aging climate control and refrigeration machinery to determine where the cost of repair strategically exceeds the cost of replacement. Scope of Work (SOW) & Contractor Management: Collaborate with external vendors to draft detailed SOWs for complete unit replacements. Review contractor proposals to ensure strict alignment with the SOW and oversee on-site installations to guarantee every point is completed and commissioned to standard.
• Master-Level Commercial Refrigeration Care: Direct the installation, service, and preventative maintenance of comprehensive refrigeration systems. Seamlessly troubleshoot everything from high-end custom built-in units to commercial walk-in coolers and freezers.
• Digital Infrastructure & Workflow: Utilize Limble CMMS to track assets, log maintenance histories, and manage team workflows. Remotely monitor and adjust multi‑site environments using Niagara EMS to optimize energy consumption.
• Specialized Infrastructure Care: Monitor, diagnose, and repair commercial Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems, industrial water softening systems, and mission‑critical Liebert cold room systems, as well as commercial ice machines.
• Team Leadership & After‑Hours Support: Manage, train, and mentor an internal team of technicians. Serve as the ultimate technical escalation point by being willing to take after‑hours calls to help field teams diagnose complex system failures.

• Required to work indoors and outdoors in hot, dry, wet, dirty, and oily environments – Regularly
• Required to work with and around hot pipes or equipment, and electrical circuits of moving machinery – Regularly

Education / Certifications

• Universal EPA Section 608 Certification is required; NATE
