HEI Hotels & Resorts manages Freehand Los Angeles and seeks a Chief Engineer to supervise preventive maintenance, life safety systems, and hotel utilities, ensuring compliance with corporate standards and local codes.

Lead engineering staff, coordinate capital projects, audit PM programs, and maintain the physical plant, FF&E, and grounds. This on-site role requires strong leadership, vendor coordination, and the ability to respond calmly in emergencies while controlling costs and energy use.

Qualifications

• Vocational schooling or certification in building trades (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry).
• 3+ years hands-on experience at a comparable location; hotel experience preferred.
• Knowledge of hotel operations, safety programs, budgeting, and long-range planning.

Responsibilities

• Supervise preventive maintenance and repairs for property and equipment.
• Monitor life safety systems and utilities; manage department per standards and codes.
• Oversee capital projects; maintain PM programs and budget adherence.
• Lead, train, and evaluate engineering staff; ensure productivity and safety.
