POSITION PURPOSE:
A Host/Reservationist makes sure that their guests feel welcomed, cared for, and valued. They create a warm and welcoming environment for patrons from the moment they enter the establishment. Hosts/Reservationists typically provide menus, take names for reservations, and answer the phone.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
- Greeting guests warmly and enthusiastically, providing personalized and attentive service.
- Recognize and welcome repeat guests, ensuring they feel valued.
- Respond to guest complaints or issues promptly and professionally, taking corrective action where necessary.
- Receive, confirm, and manage reservations using the guest reservation system.
- Assign tables efficiently, taking into account guest preferences, special requests, and VIP status.
- Maintain a polished and approachable demeanor, being the face of the brand and setting the tone for the guest experience.
- Prepare and maintain the seating chart prior to each service period.
- Monitor guest flow throughout the shift to maintain a smooth dining experience.
- Supervise and support host staff to ensure excellent front-of-house service.
- Train new host team members and provide ongoing guidance to existing staff.
- Ensure all tables are set correctly and dining areas are guest-ready before opening.
- Answer incoming phone calls professionally and handle inquiries, reservations, and guest follow-up.
- Assist with administrative duties such as updating guest records, confirming reservations, and processing payments when necessary.
- Stay informed of overall team performance, identifying problem areas and implementing improvements.
- Act as the ultimate authority on the dining room floor, overseeing all host operations and ensuring seamless coordination of guest flow.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
