Job summary

The GEO Group, Inc. is hiring for a Lead Hospital Officer to supervise detainees in a hospital setting, maintaining custody and following strict safety and restraint procedures.

The role requires extensive law enforcement experience, supervisory background, and compliance with all relevant regulations. Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma, firearms and security licenses, and be able to travel and work overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent certification required. State requisites for employment must be possessed.
• Three (3) years of continuous law enforcement experience, including at least two (2) years as a lead supervisor or GEO’s supervision training (certificate required).
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must possess State Firearms License.
• Must possess a personal sidearm meeting company standards and an approved Level III retention holster.
• Must possess a State Security Guard License.
• Must have completed an approved training program in Corrections, Law Enforcement, or Military.
• Certification in Corrections, Law Enforcement, or Military.
• Ability to work overtime frequently.
• Ability to travel extended periods with overnight stays.
• Must be mature, flexible, and able to command respect of inmates and staff.
• Ability to work with computers and department software.

Responsibilities

• The Lead Hospital Officer ensures custody and control of detainees in the hospital at all times.
• Follows restraint protocols outlined in Medical Guarding Procedures.
• Ensures restraints do not interfere with medical procedures or harm the detainee.
• Positioning is always within eyesight of the detainee.
• Detainees are not allowed outside visitors unless required by contract or court order.
• Detainees are not allowed to make telephone calls unless required by contract.
• Completes all necessary paperwork and reports; submits to Transportation Supervisor per policies.
• Completes duty log detailing all events during the shift and reports unusual events promptly.
• Ensures detainees are properly secured prior to leaving the hospital.
• All safety measures are followed, in line with laws and policies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
