Job summary

Penn Medicine is seeking a Lead Pharmacist to oversee daily operations in the assigned area, including staffing, scheduling, and performance improvement. You will ensure regulatory compliance and coordinate pharmacy services across the department.

The role requires a Pharmacist license in PA, at least 2 years of hospital pharmacy experience (residency years count), and an educational background in Pharmacy (B.A./B.S. with specialization or PharmD).

Qualifications

• Pharmacist license with the PA Board of Pharmacy required.
• Bachelor of Arts or Science (Required) with Education Specialization in Pharmacy OR PharmD Equivalent Experience.
• At least 2 years of hospital pharmacy experience (Residency year counts).

Responsibilities

• Maintain and supervise daily pharmacy workflow for the assigned area.
• Resolve staff/operational issues; communicate with management.
• Manage technology issues and escalate as needed.
• Manage staff coverage and attendance; coordinate replacements.
• Set daily team goals; monitor performance.
• Manage purchasing and inventory including loans, blood factor consignments, controlled drugs, and deliveries.
• Review non-formulary requests when Drug Information is unavailable.
• Access outpatient pharmacy after-hours as needed.
• Complete shift sign-out detailing loans, sick calls, and changes.
• Participate in PennChart testing when necessary.
• Conduct nursing orientation sessions as needed.
• Maintain clinical pharmacist competency; function in multiple areas.

Education

Bachelor of Arts/Science with Education Specialization in Pharmacy OR PharmD
