Job summary

DEERCREEK in seeks a qualified cook to manage the kitchen when the Dietary Supervisor is absent in a hospital/long-term care setting. You will prepare meals, follow menus, and ensure sanitary, properly portioned servings for residents.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of hospital or long-term care cooking experience, with the ability to read procedures and recipes and to present information to managers and staff. ServSafe certification is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of cook experience in a hospital or long-term care facility.
• Ability to read technical procedures.
• Ability to read and follow recipes.
• Able to present information to managers and staff.
• Ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain kitchen and cooking area in a safe, orderly, clean and sanitary manner.
• Prepare tasteful meals and to cook a variety of foods in large quantities.
• Follow menus and portion control guides; prepare special diets accurately.
• Record food temperatures; prepare pureed foods; work with other departments.
• Maintain sanitizer buckets and assist with serving meals.
• Report care concerns to Administrator or Director of Nurses; train dietary staff.
• Present food appealingly; supervise in absence of Dietary Supervisor.
