Job summary
Caterpillar seeks a Lead HIL/SIL Test Engineer to lead software test automation and coordinate with an offshore India team. The role focuses on HIL/SIL testing, test automation, mentoring, requirements coordination, and cross-team communication.
Responsibilities include developing Python-based test automation, defining test boundaries, piloting the HIL framework, mentoring engineers, reviewing test artifacts, and ensuring clear, effective communication across diverse teams while driving issues
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in HIL/SIL testing or embedded control systems testing.
- Strong experience developing test scripts using Python.
- Hands-on experience with Opal-RT and dSPACE for HIL testing.
- Experience with CAN, J1939 and other data-link protocols.
- Understanding of V&V concepts including functional testing, performance testing, regression testing, boundary-condition testing, and positive/negative test cases.
- Ability to read hardware schematics to determine I/O and communication port connections.
- Experience in off-highway heavy machinery, automotive, industrial controls, or similar industries using SIL/HIL for embedded control systems.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain software test automation using Python.
- Coordinate communication and technical activities between Caterpillar and offshore engineering team.
- Coordinate requirements, define SIL/HIL boundaries, and establish test priorities.
- Configure and execute the pilot HIL framework.
- Assist with technical mentoring of offshore engineers.
- Review test cases, test scripts, and test reports.
- Execute HIL scripts and bench testing activities.
- Analyze and interpret system and software requirements.
- Support effective communication across culturally diverse engineering teams.
- Identify required actions and independently drive issues toward resolution.
