The State of North Carolina Department of Transportation in Mecklenburg County is seeking a Transportation Worker IV (S) to operate a range of heavy equipment and lead a highway maintenance crew. You will install traffic and erosion controls, perform road repairs, and supervise crew activities on a fast-paced work site.

Candidates must be able to follow detailed oral and written instructions, handle varied weather conditions, and meet safety requirements including drug testing.

Formación

• High school diploma or GED and six years of experience operating equipment directly related to the area of specialization.
• Experience supervising and training others in equipment operations is preferred.
• Must carry out oral and written instructions.

Responsabilidades

• Operate various equipment (bulldozer, excavator, backhoe, skid steer, tandem dump truck, loader, tractor-trailer, asphalt maintainer, grader, rollers).
• Lead a highway maintenance crew and direct daily activities.
• Install traffic control and erosion control devices; perform roadway grading, patching, pipe installation, and snow/ice removal.
• Work under challenging weather and traffic conditions; lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly and up to 100 lbs occasionally.
