Job summary

State of North Carolina - Department of Transportation is seeking a Transportation Worker II (S) for the Forsyth County Maintenance Unit. Tasks include operating patch trucks and other highway equipment, installing traffic control devices, and supporting inmate work detail safety procedures.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED with three years of equipment operation experience, a NC driver’s license with CDL within 360 days, and pass pre-employment drug testing and background

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and three years of equipment operation experience.
• Valid North Carolina driver’s license and ability to obtain CDL within 360 days.
• Pre-employment drug testing and background checks required.

Responsibilities

• Operate highway maintenance equipment (patch truck, dump truck, sweeper, roller, skid steer).
• Install traffic control devices and erosion control devices; flag traffic; crack seal; asphalt patching.
• Transport inmates for work detail with inmate card and approvals.
• Respond to emergencies (snow and ice removal, downed trees) during day or night shifts.
