Job summary

South Carolina DDSN is seeking an experienced road maintenance crew supervisor to lead the sign crew, manage inventory, install signs and markings, and operate heavy equipment including Tandem Dump Truck, Backhoe, and motor grader.

The role requires a valid driver's license and a Class A CDL within six months, ability to work outside, and readiness for extended shifts; you will oversee safety, schedule work, and record daily maintenance and materials.

Qualifications

• Two years of related work experience or equivalent.
• Valid motor vehicle operator's license is required.
• Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) must be attained within six months of placement.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Lead sign crew and manage inventory, installation of signs, paint, and thermoplastic markings.
• Operate equipment such as Tandem Dump Truck, Backhoe, and motor grader.
• Assume foreman duties in the absence of leadership, including time entry and ordering signs.
• Conduct safety inspections on all assigned vehicles and equipment and perform daily preventative maintenance.
• Inspect signs for serviceability and safety; perform night inspections and maintenance planning.
• Set up traffic control on interstates and roads per SCMUTCD standards.
• Instruct crew daily in safety practices including flagging operations and PPE use.
• Produce daily records of work performed and materials used.
