Job summary

Bernalillo Public Schools is seeking a Head Golf Coach for Bernalillo High School to lead the golf program, develop student-athletes' skills, sportsmanship, discipline, teamwork, and academic growth.

The coach will plan practices, manage tournaments, and ensure operations align with district, school, and NMAA policies, working with the Athletic Director, staff, families, and the community. A current NM PED coaching license or ability to obtain one is required prior to start.

Qualifications

• Previous golf playing and/or coaching experience required.
• Must hold a current New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED) coaching license or be able to obtain the required NMPED coaching license prior to the start date.
• Must meet all applicable district and NMAA requirements for athletic coaches.
• Must complete all required background checks, certifications, and trainings prior to or as required for participation in the program.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and implement all aspects of the Bernalillo High School golf program.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive golf program that supports the athletic, academic, and personal development of student-athletes.
• Plan and conduct practices, competitions, matches, tournaments, and other team activities.
• Provide instruction in fundamental golf skills, techniques, rules, strategies, course management, and golf etiquette.
• Evaluate student-athletes' abilities and develop individualized and team-based instruction.
• Establish team goals, expectations, standards, and procedures that promote sportsmanship, discipline, teamwork, responsibility, and academic success.
• Coordinate schedules, transportation, facilities, equipment, golf courses, tournaments, and other logistics associated with the golf program.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with student-athletes, parents/guardians, school administration, Athletic Director, coaching staff, officials, golf course personnel, and community members.
